Winter storms. Snow days. Wind blowing. Snow drifting. Dark and cold. Light and airy. Is this the story of life?
It would have been invisible to the naked eye on most given days. Or at least easily overlooked. But on these winter snow days, it hung proudly while the snow blown against it outlined it gracefully. The wind did not tear it apart. Instead, it enhanced the intricateness of the woven web. Who would have thought that a spider’s web could withstand the intense winds of a prairie blizzard!!
When my sister commented on the web still holding on, I rushed to take a photo as words poured into my mind. And I contemplate. If a spider’s web usually so easily destroyed has withstood two winter storms, how strong the lightweight web must be!!
Winter storms. They are so fierce. They instigate such fear. They are humanly impossible to end. Yet God holds them all in His hands. Not hands that shake with fright. But hands that are in control. Strong. Unshaken.
My storms. Your storms. So out of our control. Intense. Fierce. Too big to overcome. Yet God holds them all in His unshakable hands. Those hands so full of love. So tenderly holding the storm and us. He is the eye in our storms. The only place of safety.
Though we may feel undone. Weak. Overcome. God holds us together in the storm just like He held together the spider web in these winter storms.
You are not invisible or overlooked. You are loved. Tenderly held. Chosen. Comforted. He is Emmanuel – God with us. Nothing is too big for Him to hold.
Remember, dear one, in the dark and the cold of the storms, His arms bring comfort and light.
“If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter…he will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”
Psalm 91: 9+4
