"For in you the fatherless find compassion...I will heal their waywardness and love them freely."

The Work of Silence

I know families who are talking to their children about an Easter bunny coming to hide Easter eggs for them this weekend. "Life continues to give my heart reasons to crack open wider. Not to break me, but to make room for more love, more truth, more light."

Introduction

I am Annette Unruh. Yours truly. The author of this blog. Ever since I was in grade school, I have been writing. My first memory of writing is when I wrote an eleven page story about a family living in a pumpkin house when I was in Grade 3. And since then my love for expressing myself through writing has grown from filling journals with my thoughts, to posts on my social media accounts, and now to this new endeavor: writing blogs.

My story

Life had been dark for me since I was a young teenager. I became a Christian when I was thirteen, but spent many years afterwards battling suicidal depression and deep self-hatred all while longing intensely for a relationship with God that seemed to always evade me. In the last five years, I've been on a healing journey. And it's from this place of discovery and redemption that I now write to advocate for and give hope forward to those on similar journeys as mine.
